HOW TO VOLUNTEER WITH BRCE
VOLUNTEERING
WITH BRCE
Volunteers are the cornerstone on which BRCE is sustained. Because of the
commitment and dedication of volunteers, BRCE is able to provide all programmes
and services free of charges. Volunteers are needed for numerous programmes
and services (see below). If you are interested in becoming a BRCE volunteer,
please call BRCE for information..
Roles
for BRCE Volunteers:
1. Compassionate Volunteers: those who provide one-on-one support.
2. Facilitators: those who facilitate open or closed for support groups
3. Continuance Volunteers: those who serve on committees, help with fundraising
activities, or help with office/clerical type duties, such as newsletter
production & distribution.
Training
& On-going Education for BRCE Volunteers:

Facilitator-Training
Course is regularly held throughout Elgin County. Successful completion
of this course (or equivalent training) is a pre-requisite for facilitating
support groups or providing one-on-one support. |

Monthly
Volunteer Support Group is held on the first Tuesday of every month
from 5:30 p. m. to 7:30 p. m. at BRCE office. These support groups focus
on sharing insights, joys, sorrows, successes and concerns. |

Workshop
for Volunteers is held quarterly on either a weekday evening or
Saturday in March, June, September and November. These workshops focus
on information, current issues, new concepts and research findings,
updates in BRCE policies & procedures. |

Conferences: When possible, volunteers are financially supported to attend conferences
and other educational events. |
N.B. Volunteers who wish to maintain their BRCE status are required to annually
attend at least two support groups and two workshops.
